About the spot
The Milnerton Aquatic Club lake: flat water, a small chop when it blows hard, no surf. The lake sits open enough that almost any wind direction works.
Hazards
There can be seaweed in the water. The club works to keep the lake clear, but it isn't always gone.
Launch & parking
Access is through the nature reserve and the Milnerton Aquatic Club. Use of the lake and the club grounds is for members only — a day membership covers a single visit, a temporary membership a longer stay. At the club: lawn, plenty of rigging space, restaurant, bar and toilets. Kitesurfing is not permitted.

Cape correction: The MAC measurement above stays as it is. The hour-by-hour chart below it is the ECMWF model, which runs on a 9 km grid that cannot resolve the Cape’s thermal wind — so in wind from southerly to westerly directions (SE to W) it reads low. Only for those hours do we show the model value times 1.15 (mean) and times 1.25 (gusts). In every other direction, such as the north-westerly frontal winds, we apply no correction — the model resolves those. The factors are our estimate from local knowledge (as of 17 September 2026), not a measurement; here, where measurement and model sit side by side, the difference for the same hour is visible directly. Above a 40 kn model mean we apply no correction.
