About the spot
The wildest spot on the list: open Atlantic coast, nothing built on it, and a wave that demands far more respect than anything in Table Bay. An experts' spot — and a beautiful piece of coast, with the village of Scarborough having a charm of its own. When the conditions line up the windsurfing here is at a very high level, and it's worth the drive just to watch.

Scarborough has a large public car park. Misty Cliffs you reach either on the water, or from one of the small pull-offs on the road.

ECMWF via Open-Meteo · Forecast
Cape correction: The ECMWF model runs on a 9 km grid and cannot resolve the Cape’s thermal wind — so in wind from southerly to westerly directions (SE to W) it reads low. Only then do we show the model value times 1.10 (mean) and times 1.20 (gusts). In every other direction, such as the north-westerly frontal winds, we apply no correction — the model resolves those. The factors are our estimate from local knowledge (as of 17 September 2026), not a measurement; they will be replaced once the comparison with measured values is in. Above a 40 kn model mean we apply no correction.
